About

Elizabeth Burke is a Boston-based singer, songwriter, violinist, and guitarist who believes every song has a voice, a story to tell and message to deliver. For Elizabeth, being a musician has never felt like a choice—it has always been a calling. As a child, after hearing the sound of a violin and seeing her grandmother’s instrument it sparked the thought, “I just have to make those sounds.” That moment led her to earn degrees in violin performance and dedicate herself to music.

When the pandemic brought stillness, Elizabeth discovered a new voice within her: the call to become a songwriter. At that time, she had never sung in public, played guitar, or written lyrics. Yet  Elizabeth embraced the unknown, creating the mantra that the violin represents her heart, while songwriting represents her soul.

Woven together through storytelling, Elizabeth’s songs have become a lifeline in gaining understanding of the seasons and challenges of life- celebrating love, grieving loss, confronting self-doubt, and rising up to promote social justice. Elizabeth believes that every song carries a message, and she strives to share hers in hopes of inspiring healing in others. That message is often a combination of part truth, part fiction, part her truth, or part a universal truth. Writing songs helps Elizabeth to understand what we are all going through: the human experience. She hopes that her music will help others to understand their world better too.

Elizabeth has a Master of Music Degree in classical violin from the Longy School of Music. She also plays in the musical genres of hot-club jazz , blues, old-time fiddle, and improvisational music.
